- Hi Alice, could you tell us about your career path as well as your role today within Livelihoods Networks?

I have been the coordinator for Livelihoods Networks ever since July 2012. I studied to be an engineer specialized in tropical agronomy and rural development and it led me to work for a coffee-growing cooperative in Rwanda that was certified fair-trade, with organic cocoa producers in Venezuela and for the sustainability of forests planted in Congo. Bonjour Alice, pouvez-vous nous dire quel est votre parcours et votre rôle aujourd’hui au sein de Livelihoods Network ?

Depuis juillet 2012, je suis la coordinatrice du Livelihoods Network. J’ai suivi des études d’ingénieur en agronomie tropicale et développement rural qui m’ont amenée à travailler pour une coopérative de producteurs de café certifié équitable au Rwanda, puis avec des producteurs de cacao biologique au Venezuela ou pour la gestion durable des forêts plantées du Congo. A travers mes expériences dans la production du café et du cacao, je me suis vite confrontée aux problématiques de l’agroforesterie. Mon parcours associatif m’avait permis…

While working with the Livelihoods Fund on large-scale projects including agroforestry, restoring mangrove plantations or rural energy, we were lucky enough to meet extraordinary actors on a daily basis, who each develop operational solutions in their countries and organizations. The very idea of creating the Livelihoods Network was born from these meetings and simple questions such as 'how can we strengthen these projects overtime, can we evolve towards a larger scale and accelerate the innovation process by creating connections between protagonists, between scientific and in-the-field knowledge?'.

En travaillant avec le Fonds Livelihoods sur de grands projets d'agroforesterie, de restauration de mangroves ou d'énergie rurale, nous avons chaque jour la chance de rencontrer des acteurs extraordinaires qui, chacun dans leur pays et leur organisation, développent des solutions opérationnelles. L'idée du Livelihoods Network est née de ces rencontres et de simples questions : comment rendre ces projets plus robustes dans le temps, peut-on réussir à changer d'échelle, accélérer l'innovation en créant des connections entre les protagonistes, entre connaissance scientifique et pratiques de terrain ?
